Celebration & Sadness - - -

This past weekend brought to my heart both celebration and sadness.

This past Sunday morning I had the joy of worshipping with a new African-American congregation in Millbrook. Their worship was certainly a time of celebration. I was privileged to share with them what it means to be a Southern Baptist and to work together in an association.

Sunday afternoon Betty & I attended the memorial service at Santuck for Bro Scotty Burns, pastor at Titus. It was a time of celebration of a special saint’s life and ministry. It was a joy to remember how Bro Scotty touched my life, our association and the Titus family. While we celebrate his “homegoing” to the Lord, it is also a time of sadness as we will miss him.

Sunday also brought the conclusion of the ministry of Bro Mark Smith at Eclectic 1st. I celebrate with that congregation what the Lord has done through Mark & Rodna. I give thanks for their friendship and special contributions to our association. I‘m excited about what the Lord will do through the Smiths at Eastdale Baptist Church in Birmingham. It‘s sad, to lose the close contact and fellowship that we have shared. We will miss them!
